Today, we embarked on a journey to visit one of the project sites we’re working on in the Emirate of Fujairah. Visiting the site is a fundamental part of an architect’s job, allowing us as designers to closely monitor the project’s progress, oversee developments, and manage the relationship between the consultant, contractor, and owner. This visit wasn’t just a routine check; it was a valuable opportunity to ensure the design aligns with the owner’s vision and needs.
Starting the Visit: The Main Entrance and First Impressions
Upon arriving at the site, the main entrance immediately captured our attention. We designed it to evoke a sense of openness and welcome, guiding your gaze directly toward the internal garden, creating a unique experience from the very first moment. Flanking the entrance, a window overlooks a small water feature, adding an aesthetic touch and strengthening the connection to nature. The idea was to make the resident feel that the design reflects a distinctive lifestyle, seamlessly blending indoor and outdoor spaces.
A Design Reflecting Lifestyle
The project—a luxurious villa in Fujairah—was crafted based on the owner’s desire for most rooms to enjoy stunning views of the Gulf and Fujairah’s surrounding mountains. From the outset, we focused on creating a practical and comfortable design, emphasizing the integration of interior spaces with the external environment.
A Tour Inside the Villa
Entering through the main entrance, it’s clear that the design strikes a perfect balance between privacy and openness. Right upon entry, you encounter the living room and dining area—two open spaces overlooking the external garden, which is still under construction. The goal here is to create a cozy family space, complete with a small outdoor seating area that the family can enjoy once the garden is completed. The design also includes an open kitchen and dining table, alongside a versatile seating area that can be divided into a men’s majlis and a women’s majlis as needed.
In the front section, there’s an additional majlis with a view of the front garden and main entrance, making it ideal for hosting guests. What sets this space apart is its ability to merge with the living room, offering an open and flexible experience, especially when accommodating a large number of visitors.
Natural Light and Privacy
One of the standout features of the design is the natural light flooding the villa through large windows and double-height spaces. Whether you’re in the lobby or strolling through the corridors, you’ll find natural light seeping into every corner, creating a sense of spaciousness. We also designed a separate service corridor linking the main entrance to the parking area, ensuring the privacy of key spaces like the living room and guest room is maintained.
The Upper Floor: Sleeping Quarters
Ascending the stairs to the first floor, natural light continues to flow through the windows lining the corridor. The bedrooms here are meticulously designed for comfort and privacy. The girls’ room, for instance, boasts a view of the front facade and Fujairah’s mountains, with a dedicated dressing area. The master bedroom, meanwhile, features a private entrance separating it from the rest of the space, complete with a luxurious bathroom and a breathtaking view of the external garden.
A Comprehensive Architectural Vision
At Kannon Architects and Engineers, we’ve ensured that this villa’s design reflects the family’s needs and lifestyle. The relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces, natural light, privacy, and stunning views were among our top priorities. Our aim is to create a space where residents feel psychological comfort and harmony with their surroundings, with every detail—from family seating areas to smart corridors—carefully considered to achieve this vision.

As this visit came to a close, we’re excited to follow the progress in the upcoming phases, especially as the interior finishes and gardens near completion.
